The Ministry of Environment established the Odor Prevention Act in 2005 to manage odor.
Since 2011, we have designated and managed 22 types of odorous substances.
For efficient management of odorous substances, standards for administrative measures and monitoring of areas where odorous substances exist are being implemented.
Currently, the headspace method uses propionic acid, i-butyric acid, butyric acid, i-valeric acid, n-valeric acid etc. are being analyzed by the odor process test standard method.
In order to strengthen control over odorous substances, it is necessary to develop more diverse analysis methods for odorous substances.
This is an analysis method for 10 kinds of fatty acid substances, including 4 kinds of substances seen in the odor process test method.
